Doug Kruse

Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Doug Kruse joined CIR as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer in November 2024. His nonprofit career spans more than three decades and includes leadership roles at two other pro-liberty organizations.

Prior to joining CIR, he was Executive Vice President at the Manhattan Institute. Before that, Doug spent ten years at the public interest law firm Pacific Legal Foundation, where, as Vice President for Development, he led the fundraising team to record results. His professional background includes roles at a law school, private and public colleges, and a prep school. He has also served on several volunteer boards and was elected to public office.

Born and raised in New York, Doug later escaped the heavy hand of Big Government and relocated to New Hampshire, whose “live free or die” ethos was an ideal fit. In 2009, he moved to Florida, another bastion of freedom—but with sun and sand instead of cold and snow. He and his wife live in Parkland, FL, and have two adult sons.   Doug views CIR as a calling rather than a job. For him, waking up every day to do the important work of advancing liberty and reining in overreaching government bullies is truly its own reward.
