New York P3 v. Walsh challenges an unconstitutional New York state law. If we win, New York will no longer have the authority to restrict contributions to independent expenditure committees. In addition, a win will add to the many cases in other jurisdictions that have come to the same conclusion. The case is strategically important as a vehicle to buttress the Supreme Court’s rulings going back several decades that the state may not ration political speech based on assumptions about the wealth of the speaker.
Case Status: Victory. Summary Judgment granted by US District Court.
